Twitter Weekly Updates for 2009-11-01

  • I hate it how network device makers release different products with the same model number but a new revision number. Completely different! #
  • Interesting how Mac OS X natively previews/edits doc files, but Win7 can't preview/edit binary Office docs (.doc). #
  • No trick-or-treaters again this year. 2nd year in a row. In fact, only 1 neighbor had a pumpkin out. I'm actually sad for kids today! #
  • Note on VMWare Fusion 3: Fusion's Spotlight & QuickLook importer are not 64-bit, causing both background processes to run in 32-bit. #
  • Abdullah quits Afghan election giving Karzai new term. Why? Was he threatened? Paid off? Any US involvement? Way to promoted democracy! #
  • Just recieved my 1st MMS message since I got my iPhone 2G 2.5 years ago (I know, I'm weird. I don't txt message.) & (cont) http://tl.gd/q8l6 #
  • Happy 600th tweet! Took me another 17 days for the last 100 tweets, same as from 400-500. I'm pretty consistant. #
  • Happy Halloween! #
  • IMGBurn is a fantastic free Win app. Completely replaced Nero as my Win burner of choice. Wish it was avail for Mac so I could dump Toast. #
  • Uncharted 2 looks great! Makes me want to buy a PS3 just for it. Maybe not. #
  • Emailed Microsoft/DigitalRiver support & this is their priceless response: "We understand that you are req (cont) http://tl.gd/pq6r #
  • I wonder if Apple's iTunes Remote app update had to go through the app store approval scrutiny & 2 week wait. Probably not. #
  • Ah, the reasoning for WordPress 2.0 being a new app & v1 still being available: v1 developed by 3rd-party, while v2 was developed in-house. #
  • I guess the Apple TV 3.0 update makes it better. Honestly though, I've never been excited about it & am still u (cont) http://tl.gd/pp89 #
  • Just noticed BusyCal 1.0.2 update auto restarts background alarms process & re-adds it to startup items, even if menubar app is disabled. #
  • RT @stroughtonsmith: tv 3.0 base OS is still Tiger v10.4.7; must be the longest Apple's kept support for an OS, ever! #
  • For those wondering how to enable the dark grid view in iTunes 9.0.2: Preferences>General>Grid View: Light/Dark. I missed it at first. #
  • Apple rejects Intel's new Moorestown chipset & Atom CPU because they want something 10x more power efficient! Wow! http://bit.ly/35C322 #
  • Why did Automattic release WordPress 2 as a new app instead of updating the existing WordPress app? It's a free app. #
  • Just saying, GNav could be enough to make me spring for a new 3Gs. That purchase would obviously be in Apple's favor. All because of GNav! #
  • Apple – food for thought: You may view Google Nav as competition & ban the app, but it could very well convince me to upgrade my 2G iPhone! #
  • Yay! Finally have access to Twitter lists. Wonder how long before clients like Tweetie integrate the feature. #
  • RT @daringfireball: eWeek: Google Working on Maps Navigation for iPhone: http://✪df.ws/e16 #
  • Good question! – RT @gruber: Why does Safari have a “Reopen Last Closed Window” command, but not “Reopen Last Closed Tab”? #
  • Google Maps Navigator looks great, & it's free! Makes me want an Android phone. Please Apple, let Google bring it to the iPhone! #
  • Finally got Win7 Pro x64 installed on both my PC & MacBook via Boot Camp. Now to decide if I should activate or wait a bit longer #
  • According to VMWare: "New 64-bit native core engine maximizes overall performance for Macs with 64-bit processors." Maybe VMNet isn't core? #
  • Just upgraded to VMWare Fusion 3 (thanks edu upgrade discount!). VMnet processes still running in 32-bit. Thought v3 was supposed to be x64? #
  • Intel says new netbooks after March w/ N470 CPU (not N450 in Jan) & Pine Trail-M chipset can have 2gb of mem. http://bit.ly/1PCkrE #
  • I'm referring to DMG size. It seems v3 has 100mb+ Win antivirus software included (it was optional in v2). The app itself is 9mb smaller. #
  • Why is VMWare Fusion 3 approx. 220mb larger than v2.0.6? Feature/code bloat? Why do big apps always do this (Toast, Office, Adobe)? #
  • Indeed, NYT says: "Viewers seem to be looking for partisan views more than objective coverage." Ratings will drive the future of news. #
  • CNN in last place among US news channels. Sad because it shows Americans have no interest in objective world news. http://bit.ly/3GyM7O #

  • RT @nattylux: Our upcoming game is… geoSpark! In collaboration with @nsxdavid. Addictive shiny goodness http://bit.ly/4uV0zL #
  • RT @daringfireball: NYT Story on Major Cellphone Makers Switching From Windows Mobile to Android: http://✪df.ws/e0c #
